I'm often asked why after 23 years as a successful residential REALTOR® I decided to transition and become a Corporate Real Estate Advisor with eXp Commercial. Why are we so passionate about sustainability and climate justice?
Well, here's my answer...
"American History and Shared Memories Are Floating Away..."
If the oceans and atmosphere continue to warm, sea levels along 3,190 miles of the Maryland coastline are likely to rise sixteen inches to four feet in the next century. As sea level rises, the lowest dry lands are submerged and become either tidal wetland or open water.
The birthplace of Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, Nathaniel "Nace" Hopkins, Samuel Green (a Dorchester County free man of color, was arrested and jailed 10 years for possession of Uncle Tom's Cabin in 1852), Josiah Henson (Inspiration for Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel Uncle Tom's Cabin), Matthew Henson, Benjamin Banneker, Billie Holiday's mother, Gloria Richardson Dandridge, Henry Highland Garnet, Eubie Blake, Parren Mitchell, Elijah Cummings, Thurgood Marshall and the birth place of the American Cuisine and Soul Food are floating away.
Black Marylanders have been at the forefront of shaping American food history. Their contributions include the man considered the first master chef in America, the inception of the catering industry, and the invention of the crab grading system.

The clean energy transition will be the most expensive endeavor humans have ever embarked on. Decarbonizing the world’s economy, including real estate, will cost as much as $275 trillion through 2050.
Despite being the world’s largest asset class, the real estate industry has invested less than $100 million over the last decade into emission reduction technology.
Buildings never perform as designed. They are notoriously inefficient and expensive to operate. Buildings are responsible for almost 48% of all Greenhouse Gas Emissions globally and use 55% of the worlds electricity, 30% of energy and water consumed in buildings is wasted.
